4 SLAG TAURUS P 50 SLAG POT TRANSPORTERS TO POHANG IN THE CENTER OF THE SOUTH KOREAN STEEL INDUSTRY

The service provider POTRANS serves various logistic tasks for the largest South Korean steel manufacturer POSCO in the steel plant in Pohang. A change in the transport and handling process in the field of slag transportation, taking into account greatly increased environmental regulations, required the use of the latest technology and special technical solutions. For this challenge, the KIROW team used a drive train with the highest currently available emission control level. The exhaust gas aftertreatment by means of a diesel particle filter and additional urea injection reduces the emission of pollutants to a minimum. By equipping the slag pot transporters with a hydraulically operated slag pot cover, newly developed by the KIROW engineers, the emission of dust and smoke during the transportation of the slag pots and possible slag splashes are strongly suppressed - a central requirement from the steel manufacturer POSCO Pohang. The slag pot cover is installed in the SLAG TAURUS P 50 and completely integrated in the KIROW safety control to minimize incorrect operation and to ensure a high level of operational safety. To protect against the enormous heat, the lid is equipped with a special insulation material from the steel industry. The four SLAG TAURUS P 50s with a payload of 50 t and an output of 224 KW / 300 PS have been in operation successfully since April 2020 and replace a fleet of old vehicles from other manufacturers.
